Focus on Memorized Prayer

Dear Parents,

We are placing a special focus on memorized prayer this year. Please take a moment to download the  pdf Prayer Focus (103 KB) that was handed out to everyone at our Open House. Our teachers will be focusing on one prayer for each grade level. With your help, all students will learn and memorize one new prayer each school year.

Benefits of Memorized Prayer

  • Increases our students prayer life
  • Students are better prepared for Sacraments
  • An easy “goal” for parents and students to share for the school year

Also, from now until the end of the school year, each student will be given the opportunity to take home a Prayer Bag. Each bag will contain a small religious statue, rosary, flameless candle, holy water, doily and prayer book. We hope these Prayer Bags will help your family pray together during this “Year of Faith.”

Your children have been instructed to find a safe place at home to set up a prayer space with these items and pray with their family daily for one week. The prayer focus for their grade is also included in this prayer bag. We hope this will encourage the students, and their entire families, to develop daily patterns of prayer.

The students are asked to return the bags to religion class the following week so that a new student can take home the prayer bag.
We hope your entire family will enjoy this activity. Please contact Beth at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. if you have any questions about the prayer bags.

Be My Disciples

The Mother Teresa of Calcutta Catholic Church Religious Education Program is designed to build a community of Faith and develop strong Catholic Values by utilizing the Be My Disciples RCL catechetical program.

The new curriculum explores the four pillars of the Catholic Church: Creed, Liturgy, Morality and Prayer, challenging students to choose life in Christ each day. Adapted with scripture reflection and opportunities to experience the fullness of our catholic liturgical traditions, the Be My Disciples program will encourage all to “live as active, committed members of the Catholic Church.”

Parents are a vital part of the student’s spiritual development as their faith formation initially begins at home. Since parents are the primary educators of the students, please be aware that there will be a need to have occasional parent meetings throughout the year, especially during Sacramental Preparation.

We also encourage parental participation!
We need many volunteers to assist in the classroom and be catechists/teachers!
