Vocation Crucifix Program

The purpose of the Vocation Crucifix program is to encourage prayer for vocations to the priesthood, deaconate and the consecrated religious life. All of us must encourage and support men and women to these vocations. The crucifix is a daily reminder in your home to talk about religious vocations and the importance of these vocations to serve the Lord and others.

Each week, a household receives the crucifix at one of the weekend Masses and takes it home for one week. At the end of a weekend Mass, the celebrant presents the crucifix to the members of a household and everyone recites the vocation prayer together. Then, the household takes it home and places the crucifix in a significant place of their choosing. A notebook of suggested daily prayers is available. At the end of the week, return the crucifix before the 4:00 pm Mass on Saturday.

The parish bulletin lists the households for the next few weeks as a reminder. If you are scheduled and not able to take the crucifix, please contact Steve and Teresa Schiffelbein to reschedule or change the Mass you will attend.

Vocation Prayer:

Lord Jesus, at the Last Supper, You satisfied Your disciples' thirst for You with Your own Body and Blood: from the cross You declared that You thirst for the salvation of souls. Raise up many men to serve as Priests, Brothers, and Deacons and women as Sisters, that Your thirst for souls and our thirst for You may be satisfied. We ask this in Your name. Amen.
